For all wedding cake orders final payment is due one calendar month before the wedding date unless previously agreed in writing with Buttercream Cake Design.

Design / Alterations
Please ensure read and check the quote thoroughly, any amendments should be made in writing immediately. If requested, we will endeavour to adjust the design where possible, but sometimes this is not possible according to the nature of the request or amount of notice given. If the alteration affects the cost, then your balance will be adjusted accordingly. We reserve the right to change the design at any point if circumstances beyond our control may compromise the quality of the finished cake. eg. Melting due to weather. Each cake is made individually by hand, so although every effort is made to ensure consistency, a small amount of variation may occur.
Any cake ordered from a picture or photo of a cake produced by any other cake maker, can only be reproduced by Buttercream Cake Design as our interpretation of that cake and will not be an exact reproduction of the cake in the picture or photo.
Allergies & Special Dietary Requirements
Please discuss with us if any of your guests have special dietary requirements. Cakes can be made egg free / alcohol free / without nuts/ dairy and gluten etc by request. However please be aware these cakes are baked in a kitchen that uses the above ingredients and while every effort is taken to keep ingredients separate, our cakes may contain traces of such ingredients.
Most cakes contain small proportions of inedible items, it is the clients responsibility to ensure these are removed by your caterer/guests before consumption eg. Support dowels in tiered cakes, ribbon, wires in sugar flowers, Swarovski crystals, flower picks & flower tape (where fresh flowers are used). Some flowers are not suitable for use on food products and you should notify your flower supplier of your intention to use the flowers on food to ensure that non poisonous flowers are used. Buttercream Cake Design cannot be held responsible for any contamination that may occur due to fresh flowers coming in contact with the cake. This is done so only on request of the customer and it is their responsibility along with the florist to ensure the flowers are safe to come in contact with the cake.
Equipment hire cost varies depending on item but always incurs a hire fee and a returnable hire deposit. The returnable deposits must be paid in cash separately from the cake payment and the deposit amount is refundable on safe return of the equipment within the designated time frame. All equipment must be returned within 3 days of the wedding or celebration date (unless alternative arrangements have been agreed prior to wedding in writing) otherwise extra charges may be levied to cover extended hire costs. Any damages or late returns will incur a reduction of deposit returned in order to cover costs of repair or replacement.
If you choose to collect your cake and transport it yourself, we are not liable or responsible for the cake once it has left the Buttercream Cake Design studio. You should ensure your vehicle is clean and tidy before collection and we recommend purchasing non slip matting. We do everything in our power to provide a well- structured cake, but please note, cakes can be very fragile so you must drive carefully and slowly taking particular caution on uneven road surfaces and around corners etc. The safest place to transport your cake is either in the boot or in the foot well (depending on the size of the cake this may not be possible in the foot well) but in either case the cake MUST be on a flat, hard surface and under no circumstances on a seat or anyones knee! If at the time of booking you decide that you would like to collect your cake but at a later date decide you would prefer the cake delivering then we will do everything we can to fulfil this request, however please be aware that depending upon the other bookings at the time this may not always be possible so please do let us know on booking if you would want the cake delivering.
Cakes are to be collected from the Buttercream Cake Design studio at a prearranged time and date only.
The cost of delivery and set up will depend on the location of the chosen venue. If the venue is changed and of a further distance, additional charges may apply. We cannot be held liable for any damage that is rendered to the cake at the venue once we have left the premises. It is the responsibility of the customer to ensure the venue supply a suitable table and location for the cake to be displayed. Once again, we are not liable for the cake once delivered or picked up. If you book your cake in for delivery but then decide at a later date that you would rather collect then the delivery fee may still be payable.
Once your cake has been collected or delivered, it should be stored in a cool/dry place, away from direct sunlight. Putting your cake in the fridge when covered with rolled fondant or fresh flowers for example may ruin the finish of the cake/flowers and so refrigeration of these kinds of cake is not recommended. However if you have a fresh cream cake or similar then this must be refrigerated. Please always ask if you are unsure before you collect your cake.
If you cancel your wedding or celebration cake order less than six month prior to the event any deposit payments and/or additional payments are not refundable. If you cancel your wedding or celebration cake order six months or more before the event, we will provide vouchers to the value of any sum paid in excess of the deposit value, which may be used against another single order purchase within one year. This excludes the deposit amount and is subject to availability.
We retain the right to cancel any booking in circumstances beyond our control. In this instance Buttercream Cake Design will refund any money taken in full.
If you wish to reschedule your celebration or wedding cake, we will do all we can to accommodate your new date, however your initial deposit amount is non transferrable and so will need to be paid again. If however we are unable to accommodate the new date then all payments made are non refundable. If the new date has tried to be arranged 6 months or more prior to the wedding or celebration, we will provide vouchers to the value of any sum paid in excess of the deposit value, which may be used against another single order purchase within one year. This excludes the deposit amount and is subject to availability.
We do take pride in each and every cake that leaves the Buttercream Cake Design studio and so we do always take pictures to show them off on our social media pages and/or website. We will however always ensure that images are only uploaded AFTER your celebration or wedding date to ensure you will get maximum impact at your event. Cakes created by Buttercream Cake Design may also be published in various places including wedding magazines and suchlike. Therefore we reserve the right to use any image of a cake made by Buttercream Cake Design for publication at a later date. If you would prefer images of your cake not to be shared please advise us of this when making your booking.
In the unlikely event that you are unhappy with any aspect of your cake please do let us know as soon as possible. We ask that for wedding or occasion cakes being delivered that you or a nominated person who is aware of the details of the cake is available at the venue who would be able to ensure the cake is satisfactory and in its correct position etc. The nominated person can then inform us if the cake is unsatisfactory for any reason on delivery and this will give us ample time to rectify any issue. All other concerns should be made in writing and evidence of the fault should be included. A refund will only be given if the uneaten cake(s) are returned and is unsuitable for consumption / not as described in the written quote. Complaints of any kind must be made within 72 hours ( 3 days) after the event. Once this time has lapsed it is deemed that everything was satisfactory with your cake and there were no complaints. Any refund given for disputes regarding a cake design or taste are completely at the discretion Buttercream Cake Design and are not automatic. Full refunds will never be given for any cake which has been consumed regardless of dispute, as consumption of the cake is viewed as your acceptance that the cake is adequate for the purpose for which it has been supplied. All cakes delivered to venues are photographed from different angles to show cake quality on delivery we do not accept any responsibility for loss or damage to the cake or items with the cake such as knives, decorations and stands, once the cake has been delivered to a venue or collected from the Buttercream Cake Design studio
